2017 Line-up

Strand of Oaks – USA

Philadelphia musician Timothy Showalter a.k.a. Strand of Oaks, has been hailed for evocative songs rooted in fiction, allegory and elaborate fantasy. With full band in stride, Strand of Oaks is an experiential sledgehammer of a live show , rife with unrestrained sonic expression beautifully capturing the loose and hedonistic vibe we’re all searching for.

Jonny Fritz – USA

Jonny Fritz is a man whose hard work and boldness have paid off in spades. With well over a decade of touring under his belt, he’s grown into an accomplished, mature voice in country music who beautifully balances an earthy trademark humour and unfiltered worldview.

Sonny & The Sunsets – USA

Sonny & The Sunsets are a beautiful west coast thing. Birthed from the sand, the surf, and twilight campfires down in Ocean Beach, their busted beach-pop songs spark recollections of doo-wop’s otherworldly despair, a dose of goofball humour from the Michael Hurley school, and positive possibilities exuded by Jonathan Richman.

Henry Wagons & The Only Children (Vic)

Henry Wagons & The Only Children are on of those bands that are impossible to forget, leaving a deep and smile-inducing imprint on the brain. Led by the unique swagger of renaissance man Henry Wagons, they are a bunch of facial hair wielding tall timber, reminiscent of decades past; when bands gave their audience bucket loads of charm and were always shrouded in a little enigmatic mystery.

Jen Cloher (Vic)

Jen Cloher spent almost a decade as one of the country’s best folk-leaning singer-songwriters but in 2013 that all changed. The release of ‘In Blood Memory’ marked a new era for the artist. Backed by an all-time trio, post-2013 Cloher is grittier, groovier and more devastatingly honest than ever before.

Lost Ragas (Vic)

Bringing their own brand of “Cosmic Australiana”. Lost Ragas are a hard sound to pin down. Broken hearted alt country lapses into amazing duel slide guitar meltdowns – think Television’s Tom Verlaine meets Ry Cooder all centred around Matt Walkers beautifully dark voice, understated super tight bass and that Crazy Horse style minimal drumming.

Ruby Boots (WA via Nashville)

Ruby Boots’ music will stop you in your tracks. This rising star, now based in Nashville, possesses a red-wine stained voice that crackles with swagger and sorrow. Her fiercely honest lyrics strike deep into the soul while here music delivers an alluring mix of Americana, Rock, Folk and Blues.

The San Sebastian (SA)

The return of Dan and Joel Crannitch from acclaimed Australian act ‘Leader Cheetah’. The brothers reconvened in mid 2016 and walked away with an album produced by Phil Ek (Father John Misty, the Shins, Fleet Foxes) slated for an early 2017 release via Spunk records and a debut show at the prestigious Americanafest in Nashville, TN. armed with bucketloads of soulful indie/alt country rock.. Your ears will be taken on a cosmic foray they may never return from.

Wanderers (SA)

Formed on stage during a jam session at the Grace Emily Hotel in Adelaide in 2014, Wasted Wanderers have gone on to release a critically acclaimed EP (Goddamn Anything), played shows and festivals nationally, have shared the stage with some of Australia’s greats and have just released new single ‘In Your Fire’ which also sees them embark on their first national tour to support the release.
